The Blue Lagoon

Camp Brooks is an old fishing camp, from way back when, when Fort Walton Beach was known as Camp Walton, and Destin wasn't even a dot on the map. Men would come here and rent these camp cottages, which at that time had no plumbing and no electricity. People would visit to fish and, well, CAMP!


I just purchased this amazing little property and I will be maintaining the vintage feel, but adding modern day luxuries. The Blue Lagoon is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage, with a living/dining area, and a full kitchen. The space is small and can accomodate a max of four guests. There is a queen bed in the bedroom, and a fold out couch/futon guests 3 and 4.


Camp Brooks is located just over Brooks Bridge, which is currently under construction. We are getting a completely NEW bridge, and all our residents are super excited about it. It will bring us amazing pedestrian pathways which will eventually lead you from here right to the beachfront! Literally just over the bridge, we are about a 10 minute walk to the beach, about half a mile.


Camp Brooks comes fully furnished with linens and kitchen accessories (everything you need--but space is limited so no frills). This is a very unique property in the heart of downtown Fort Walton Beach. Walk to concerts, amazing restaurants, catch a boat ride right across the road, rent jet skis, take in a movie at Sud-n-Cinema (free tickets are included with your stay!), visit The Landing park, and my favorite thing--Publix is just right across the street. You don't need a car!


I am so excited about this cottage which is one of 7 on the property. At this time, this is the only cottage with short term rentals.


Technical details about The Blue Lagoon

  • Yes it's purple...but SOON it will be a beautiful bright blue!
  • 1 bedroom, 1 bath, plus a small living space
  • Maximum occupancy is 4 people (infants included).
  • There is a queen bed, plus a futon
  • Bathroom has a tub/shower combo and single vanity
  • This is a small space. It is well equipped, but not a luxury rental.
  • A bridge is being contructed nearby and you may hear construction noise but generally it is very peaceful and quiet.
  • Wifi and Smart TV included
  • Public beach access is 1/2 mile away

Your rental total will be your calculated rent, plus a cleaning fee, plus 13% tax.

A $250 Refundable Damage Deposit is required to reserve ALL rentals.


More details: To book this property you will need to contact me to make sure I don't have another contract in progress on your specified dates. If all clear, you will pay the $250 deposit. Once the deposit is received, I will block the calendar and email you a contract. Rent is due one month prior to your arrival. The $250 deposit is returned promptly upon a tidy check-out. I take payment by e-check. Credit Cards are expensive to swipe on large rental transactions. A 5% fee will be added if you want to pay by card.

Booking Rules

I don't force full week rentals. However, I do not allow reservations that cause small gaps in the calendar which can't be rented. You must go back-to-back with other reservations, or leave at least three nights between you. ALL gaps must remain rentable (no excpetions). When you select dates below, if it shows you a warning, then you must move your dates to fit these rules.

Best Customer Service for vacation rentals

Danica offers by far the best customer service I’ve ever received! Normally we book through Airbnb and deal with Vacasa or another property management company and just get generic messages with brief detail of our instructions. Danica is kind, knowledgeable, responds quickly, and goes above and beyond for her guests. The unit itself was clean and suited our family’s needs. Camp Brooks 7!!!

Danica was amazing!!! Very helpful throughout the booking process and she even checks on you before and during the trip! Camp Brooks 7 was close to everything , clean and spacious. Adventures at the Cottage

Camp Brooks is an absolute gem and a perfect destination for a family getaway. My family of four ended up staying 7 days! The cottage has a welcoming atmosphere surrounded with natural beauty. The convenience of being so close to the beach, restaurants, grocery store, and shopping made our stay even more enjoyable. When we arrived, our groceries were already stocked so we could go about our day!

Our young son and daughter had a blast with all the exciting activities around. From splashing in the waves, to parasailing, to crab hunting at night, going to crab island, to eating great seafood and to boating in the bay, there was never a dull moment.

The cottage was well maintained and provided a cozy and comfortable retreat after our adventurous days. One of the highlights of our stay was the incredible hospitality of Danica, our host. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. Danica had an answer for everything we could possibly need for an amazing family beach vacation, making our trip seamless and stress-free. We can’t recommend Camp Brooks highly enough and can’t wait to return for another incredible family getaway!

The Cute Little Cottage: SCORE!

This was our 3rd time booking with Danica, and our first booking her Brook's Camp! We booked last minute this year our normal go to, Waterscape, was full. We completely trust booking with Danica and knew she would take care of us booking the cottage. It was clean, super cute, safe, cozy and the price was just right. My 9 year old twins especially loved walking to the Waffle House in the mornings and playing music on the juke box while waiting on waffles. Sometimes it's the little things ;). We loved making new memories and the boys loved the luxury camping by coast in the sweetest little cottage! Thank you Danica for another fabulous vacation!

The Cute Little Cottage: SCORE!

We love the cozy feel of the cottage. It was perfect for the two of us and the dog! The location was super convenient and we really appreciated you helping get us on the beach! The cottage was adorable and we had no complaints! The construction was a little loud at times and we got trapped for a bit one day in vacationer traffic. Other than that it was perfect.
